FINDING SOLUTION FOR STRESS PROBLEM | Part III

                                                                                    - By Milan K Sinha

In the first post of this series, we learned how to start managing stress. While, the second part dealt with the philosophy "THINK & THANK" and other aspects of happy living. Let us find out other inputs in this regard in this concluding part...

It needs no emphasis that LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE. Gandhiji himself appreciated the invaluable value of laughter and hence used to laugh a lot. Observers also opine that the moments of laughter is a period of absolutely no stress. Success of laughing clubs in many big cities of many countries including ours is indicative of the realisation of the importance of laughter in our day-to-day life. Further, watching light films/serials with your family members/friends helps in releasing stress to a great extent. At times, music too is used as a de-stressing capsule. Enjoying children films in children’s company does make a meaningful difference in stressful situations as well.

Physical fitness is necessary in order to stay mentally healthy. What affects our body affects our mind and vice-versa. Many corporate houses have of late realised its importance and have started teaching their executives ancient relaxation techniques like YOGA, MEDITATION & PRAYER. Yoga is not an exercise but it is a way of life. Yoga actually means the experience of oneness or unity with your inner being. Meditation usually has a very soothing effect both on our body and mind. And many of us know that our greatest power lies in the power of prayer. Advantages of healthy eating have also been emphasised. It is also advised to (a) study GITA, UPANISHAD and other inspirational & purifying books (b) spend time in satsang i.e. in enlightened company and (c) look at the photographs of greatmen/thinkers/ one’s ideals e.g. Vivekananda, Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak, Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore, Sri Aurobindo etc. in stressful situations. All this creates a de-stressful situation wherein one feels instantly relaxed as if one’s stress in melting away. Moreover, if we really value our old glorious values of life and put them back into corporate life and start living as ARJUNA lived that as, “Do your Best and Forget about the Rest”, the stress will disappear; may be slowly but surely!
